Unprecedented forest fire outbreak affects mining operations
A series of forest fires in Quebec has caused shutdowns at several mining operations in the province due to operating hazards. Over 150 active fires were recorded, caused by unseasonably warm weather, and the situation gained international attention when smoke enveloped New York City. Hecla Mining and Wesdome Gold Mines are just two that have temporarily suspended operations.
VRIFY secures funding for better communication tools
VRIFY, an online communications platform for mining companies, has announced that it secured $6m in Series A funding. The funding was co-led by RCF Jolimont Innovation and Beedie Capital, with participation from Tiny. The company plans to develop better communication tools to help them redefine how deals are shared, understood and secured. CEO Steve de Jong said better communication in the mining sector is essential for a strong critical mineral supply chain to reach global energy transition targets.
