Starling Bank Supports Women’s Football
Starling Bank, a strong advocate for women’s football, has extended its sponsorship of the Southampton FC Women’s team for another three years. The bank first became the principal partner of the club for the 2022-23 season, following a successful summer for the English Women’s Euros team and Starling’s new role as the official national banking partner.
Front of Shirt Sponsorship Continues
As part of the continued support, Starling Bank will remain as the front of shirt sponsor for the team. Starling’s brand and marketing director, Rachel Kerrone, expressed the bank’s dedication to promoting progress in women’s football as well as in technology and sports.
Investing in Jobs and Future Coaches
As part of its commitment to the region, Starling has created 500 jobs at its Southampton base and launched the ‘Coaches of Tomorrow’ programme. This initiative aims to train up to 20 women from the area to be FA-accredited coaches. In addition to these efforts, Starling donated £28,000 to support emerging players and grassroots football clubs across the UK after the Lionesses’ winning performance in August.
Renewed Partnership and Team Growth
The renewal of this partnership between Starling Bank and Southampton FC Women signals the ongoing commitment of both organizations to work together towards achieving success. Following the 2022-23 season, the team enjoyed substantial growth, with a 355% increase in average match attendance compared to the previous season, and a 180% boost in season ticket sales.
