Williamson’s Background

Gavin Williamson gained notoriety for keeping a Mexican redknee tarantula named Cronus on his desk in his parliamentary office. Although his constituency seat is set to be split in the next election, he remains a well-known figure in British politics.

Acoba’s Oversight

The committee on business appointments (Acoba) has approved Williamson’s new role at Lanistar. However, they have warned him against using his connections within the government to unfairly access and influence governmental bodies. Since leaving office, Williamson is subject to a lobbying ban for 2 years.

Resignation as Minister

Williamson resigned from his ministerial role in November 2022 amid allegations of bullying, as detailed in a report by Tortoise Media. Despite denying these allegations, he stepped down from his position.
