Introduction
Less than two months after the launch of their first chatbot Pi, artificial intelligence startup Inflection AI and CEO Mustafa Suleyman have raised $1.3 billion in new funding. Microsoft, Nvidia, and three influential billionaires led the investment, valuing Inflection at $4 billion.
The Funding and Investors
Microsoft, Nvidia, Reid Hoffman, Bill Gates, and Eric Schmidt invested in Inflection AI. The funding round deepens Inflection’s ties with Microsoft and Nvidia, two key partners in the AI race.
Inflection’s Ties with Microsoft and Nvidia
Microsoft is Inflection’s cloud computing partner, while Nvidia has been working closely with Inflection on deploying its flagship H100 graphics processing unit (GPU). Inflection is set to install thousands more GPUs, making its cluster the largest for AI applications in the world.
The Chatbot Pi
Inflection plans to continue expanding its computing capabilities and developing Pi, a chatbot trained to engage in conversational interactions with users. Pi is gaining significant engagement and adding new features. Inflection also has plans for an API for selected partners to train their own conversational AIs.
The Future
Inflection expects to raise more funding at an accelerated rate to capitalize on the growth opportunities in the AI industry. The company aims to “blitz-scale” and grow rapidly to capitalize on the investor and consumer interest in AI technologies.
