Mollie Receives Payment Institution License in the UK
Dutch payments giant Mollie has been granted a payment institution licence in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Mollie launched in the UK in early 2021 ahead of its blockbuster $800m Series C funding round, bringing its disruptive payment processing services to merchants, many of whom are e-commerce platforms operating domestically and internationally.
Mollie entered the UK market through the temporary permissions regime for EU-based financial services firms, which was launched after Brexit. This licence from the FCA is a significant milestone for Mollie and demonstrates their commitment to providing top-notch products and services to empower merchants.
Koen Köppen, CEO of Mollie, expressed his excitement about the licence and its implications for the company’s growth and collaboration opportunities in the dynamic UK market. Mollie aims to shape the future of payments in the UK and has ambitious plans to offer fully integrated business financing services and additional payment solutions to merchants.
