Revolut Appoints Francesca Carlesi as UK CEO
Revolut, the leading fintech company, has announced the appointment of Francesca Carlesi as its new UK CEO. This move comes as Revolut continues its mission to secure a banking licence in the UK. Carlesi, a fintech and banking expert with over 15 years of experience, was most recently the founder and CEO of digital mortgage lender Molo Finance.
Prior to her time at Molo Finance, Carlesi held senior roles at Deutsche Bank and Barclays, as well as spending over 10 years at McKinsey. Richard Holmes, the chairman of Revolut UK, expressed his confidence in Carlesi, stating that her extensive experience in the banking and fintech sectors makes her the ideal candidate to lead the UK business forward.
Focus on Banking License and Growth
Carlesi will assume her new role next month and will undoubtedly be focused on Revolut’s efforts to secure a banking licence in the UK. This process has been ongoing for two and a half years. With nearly eight million customers in the UK, Revolut aims to become their primary bank, and recently launched Revolut 10 to encourage more users to adopt the app for their banking needs.
Commitment to Diversity
Carlesi’s appointment further enhances Revolut’s diverse leadership group and talent pool. The company is committed to increasing the representation of women in leadership roles to 30% by 2025. Currently, Caroline Britton is the only other woman across the board of directors and executive leadership team, serving as chair of Revolut’s audit committee.
Carlesi expressed her enthusiasm for the new role and the growth opportunities it presents. She stated, ‘There are so many growth opportunities, and I couldn’t be more excited to be leading the way for the UK. We have big things planned, so watch this space.’
